Cultural Strategy for the Weaver Valley
Aim: The aim of the cultural strategy is to strengthen the diversity of the Weaver Valley by targeting regeneration to key opportunity locations. It aims to inspire key organisations to deliver a range of culturally-led regeneration projects with a focus on creating a positive image of the Weaver Valley that visitors and the local community can identify with.
Scope: The Cultural Strategy is relevant to the Weaver Valley in its entirety.
Content: The report provides an assessment of existing cultural assets and identifies possible opportunities for new projects which will enhance these assets, link with the physical regeneration of towns, strengthen the Weaver Valley environment and enhance its sense of place and image.
The strategy explores the following three strands based around deliverability: • Regeneration and the Built/Natural Environment (e.g. distinctive architecture, improving green spaces, eco-design and construction, enhancing the character of each settlement); • Arts and Events Infrastructure (e.g. performing arts and sculpture, local festivals and events); • Communities and People (e.g. supporting education and skills development); and sets out tangible methods for project delivery taking into account funding mechanisms, key partners, risks and timescales.
