Acton Bridge: The Proposals (Masterplan)

Aim:  The aim of the study is to deliver proposals to establish Acton Bridge as a key visitor gateway to the Weaver Valley and as a vibrant hub of visitor attractions.

Scope:  The study area contains a section of Acton Bridge located between the River Weaver and the Trent & Mersey Canal, and extends in an east-west direction along the River Weaver to include Saltersford Locks and Dutton Locks.

Content:  The study identifies three main areas of focus.
• Visitor attractions (further developing existing attractions, as well as opportunities such as the creation of a new marina)
• Circulation and Wayfinding (developing a strong identity for the area through consistent signage, information boards and street furniture)
• Visitor facilities (provision of essential visitor services such as additional car parking)
