The Weaver Way will be created by improving, surfacing and signing existing public footpaths, bridleways and towpaths. This will provide a high standard of off-road access to the towns, countryside and visitor facilities within the Weaver Valley.
The routes will connect to public transport and the major road network through a number of gateway sites. Gateways act as arrival and entry points into the Weaver Valley where visitors and local residents can access the Valley’s facilities. It will take between 6 and 10 years to develop the whole network with an estimated cost of £9million expenditure of partnership funding.
Work is already underway to start Phase 1 of implementation. Above all the Weaver Way is for people, to contribute to their wellbeing and ability to enjoy a quality environment. |
