Hunts Lock Improvement - Northwich
Environmental Planning requested that the bridge section of Engineering Service inspect the lock gate walkways at Hunts Lock with a view to producing a design brief to widen the existing walkways in order to make them accessible for disabled persons. The route indicated by Environmental Planning was the two sets of gates over the eastern side of the locks as it gave the best route from the proposed new Riverside Bridge on the south side to the car park next to railway viaduct on the north side. The lock gates operated over the Weaver Navigation channels and are a busy route for canal traffic, both recreational and commercial.
