Weaver Valley Website – Accessibility Features

Changeable Text Size

The size of the text on the website can be changed by selecting one of the ‘A’ symbols in the left hand column of every page.

Alternatively, users can change the size of text on their web browser.

More information on changing text sizes can be found here

Screen Resolution

The website has been designed to be viewable at all screen resolutions without sideways scrolling.  (It can be viewed by all browsers, but we would recommend Internet Explorer version 4 and upwards.)

New Browser Windows

We give warnings when a new browser window is about to open.

Downloads

Each document on the website is on its own download page which tells you how long it will take to open (or download) it, depending on internet connection speed and the document size.

Documents are generally in Word or PDF (Portable Document Format) and we supply a link for downloading  the free viewing software, in case users don’t have these programs installed on their computer.

Images

All images are optimised for web use ie their file size is reduced to so they don’t delay the loading speed of webpages.  We try to keep images relatively small so that users viewing with an 800x600 screen or using a screen magnifier can still navigate around the page easily.

Image- Free Viewing

The website is usable with images turned off.  We aim to provide a ‘text only’ version of all images to ensure that information is accessible to those with visual impairment.

ReadSpeaker

The website can be listened to rather than read by selecting  the speaker icon in the left hand column of every webpage.

Translation

The website uses clear and simple language to make understanding and translation easy. We use ‘Babelfish’ software which provides translation into 11 languages.
