Andrew Needham


Andrew Needham was first elected onto Cheshire County Council as the Councillor for Eddisbury Division in 1997. His main area of interest is the environment and the key issues the world is facing.  He is currently the Executive Member for Environment, Economy, Rural Affairs and Waste.   He is also a Board member on Northwich Vision.

Cllr Needham is a Governor of Tarporley High School and was also a District Councillor for Oulton Ward in Vale Royal Borough Council from 1991 until 1999. More recently he joined the Flood Defence Committee for the North West. 

Married with three children Cllr Needham is a Chemical Engineer by profession.  During his career he worked for ICI, Rank Hovis McDougal – and later became a freelance energy consultant.  He was a Member of the CBI Committee on energy efficiency - and contributed to the report from the Department of the Environment on climate change in the UK.

Working for the Commission of the European Union, he undertook assignments in the former Soviet Union within programmes of technical assistance, with particular reference to energy and the environment. His interest in these matters has continued within local government.
